We are close to the end of February. Your child may already be preparing for their first assessment of the year.

Your children’s upcoming assessment is a way for us to assess their learning and understanding for the past two months.

You can also use it as a trajectory of their study habits for the coming months. With this assessment, you may consider the need to adjust the amount of support your child is receiving.

Supporting Your Child at Home: Review Topics and Learning & Recall

One of the ways you can support your child at home is to assist them to review the topics that are tested for the assessment.

By identifying topics that your child is strong at and struggling in, it would be easier to choose what to focus on.

It can also help to understand the four principles of Learning & Recall: Trigger, Association, Structure and Repetition. With this understanding, you may be able to better support your child to recall the information they have learnt.

These principles are derived from the basic forms of learnings defined by behavioural and cognitive psychology.
