Reflecting on what they have learnt
Reflecting on what they have learnt can help them strengthen their recall.

The second month of school life has begun for your child. It is typically the time when students begin to prepare for the first formal assessment in school. In this post, you will learn how to help your child start the habit to reflect and review their lessons.

To help your child begin their preparations, you can start engaging them in conversation to reflect and review their lessons.

Help Your Child Reflect and Review

These conversations can help begin a daily habit to reflect and review what they have learnt for each day at school.

Here is what you can do:

  1. Ask your child to relate to you the one thing that they have learnt from each lesson.
  2. Assist or encourage them to browse the topics in their textbooks. We have spent on textbooks. Use them as a scaffold for your child’s learning.

Daily Review and Reflection

The Daily Reflection and Review is different for each subject:

  1. For Maths, review the formulas or concepts.
  2. For Science, review the key concepts with related experiments.
  3. For Humanities, review the key ideas/concepts with related case-studies.

When students begin to reflect and review their lessons of the day, it helps remind them of what they have learned.

This marks the beginning of their preparation for their revision.
