In my capacity as a mentor and educator, I have been consulted on issues pertaining to selecting a suitable institution for further studies.
Here, I share my own considerations when making a decision:
1. Curriculum
What will you be studying and what are the requirements of the course? Will you be able to meet the requirements and cope with the expectations?
2. Prospect
Will you be able to get a job with the qualification that you are seeking? If you plan to continue towards further education, what courses could you pursue with the prospective qualification that you are seeking? In planning for further studies, it would be best to begin with the highest qualification that you are seeking so that you adequately prepare for the pre-requisite entry requirements.
3. Environment and Facilities
An important facility will be the library and access to online resources. While every institution can boast of good teaching staff and methods, very few can claim to possess a good library that will support your research and reference needs.
4. Teaching Faculty
Who will be your teachers? Will they be able to inspire you? Do they have the necessary educational/training background and experience to help you pursue your educational goals?
I hope that my sharing here will help you in your decision-making process.
